Petrolicious is going with paid membership.
No more enjoying car stories from folks from around the world on YouTube for free. Just teasers, like Alai n de Cade net talking about unobtainium Ferrari 288 GTO.

Oh well, they will join the ranks of motor trend tv and roadkill, bummer. I really liked their films.

I have had that site as a bookmark for years, click on it regularly, and aspire to read their fine prose. However, at the end of the day it is too fancy for me, I read a couple of lines and hop back over to Jalopnik.

The natural life cycle of blogs:
Enthusiast starts writing on the internet about their passion.
People start reading: the website grows
It becomes the originators full time job, and possibly some others’
Eventually the originator realizes they’re not making any money
Either (a) they decide to monetize their audience with a paywall
Or (b) they sell out to an established online publisher with a well-oiled machine for generating advertising revenue. The new owner then turns the blog into something indistinguishable from all their other properties
In either case, most of the audience goes elsewhere
Eventually the blog quietly fades away
Nobody cares

Reminds me of how I stopped going to BringATrailer after it changed from a site full of interesting and unique cars found for sale on Craigslist, Autotrader, etc. to an over-priced auction site.
I really miss the old BAT...
